Football still likes to look for its main character somewhere near the opposition goal. The dramaturgy is more convenient there. That is where goals live, the brace in a big match, the right gesture towards the fan end and the instant affection of the neutral viewer. The goalkeeper usually exists outside that storyline. He matters until he becomes noticeable, and he becomes noticeable when something has gone wrong.
Baltika's 2025/26 season broke that logic. To my mind, the team's main star played not in attack but in goal. Not the man who turned chances into highlights, but the man who consistently cancelled other people's goals and made the whole Kaliningrad project look more grown-up, more stable and more serious than its place in the club hierarchy entitled it to.
